cough/sneeze detection pack
amplifier for cough/sneeze detection
microphone for cough/sneeze detection
The cough detection plethysmograph is a noninvasive method for detecting and counting cough occurrences in small rodents inside a plethysmograph for conscious unrestrained animals. The setup also allows for simultaneous measurement of the respiratory parameters and aerosol drug delivery.
setup: the standard setup is almost identical to the whole body plethysmography setup with unrestrained, conscious animals. The difference is a microphone placed inside the animal chamber and connected to a signal processing module that amplifies and sends the audio signal to the acquisition and analysis software, iox2.
measurement: the audio signal and the respiratory signal (from the differential pressure transducer) are correlated to reject random sound noise so that only actual coughs are processed. For every cough burst, iox reports the number of coughs and the frequency of coughs, in addition to ventilatory parameters linked to unrestrained plethysmography.
Event markers allow for quick and easy identification of changes in cough patterns throughout the experiment. Further processing with datanalyst provides flexible group-based calculations and batch analysis for summarized experimental reports.
The whole-body plethysmography parameters are optional and can be separately purchased.
