mass flow controller
One mass flow controller is used for each gas. Each is controlled remotely from iox2 software.
Each mass flow controller has a characteristic full scale of flow (in standard liters per minute, SLPM).
Available models have full scales of 1 SLPM, 2 SLPM, 5 SLPM and 10 SLPM.

The flow regulator contains 4 independently regulated channels for up to 4 plethysmographs.
In practice, the total flow rate set in iox2 software (driving the mass flow controllers) is usually slightly higher than that required.
A pressure regulator downstream of the controllers prevents pressure from building up and, at the same time, provides the optimal pressure downstream of the mass flow controllers for their correct functioning.
